Friend of Wintering Bugs Mini Program Bundle (Digital Download)

Sometimes helping nature means knowing when to leave it alone. 🍂🐞

Did you know that a pile of fallen leaves or a few dried garden stems could be home to tiny creatures waiting out the winter?

Our Friend of Wintering Bugs Mini Program Bundle helps kids discover the hidden world of overwintering insects and learn how small, thoughtful choices can make a big difference for the wildlife right in their own backyards.

When temperatures drop, insects don't simply disappear! Many spend the colder months tucked beneath fallen leaves, inside hollow stems, under logs, or sheltered in the soil. What might look like a messy garden to us can actually be an important winter sanctuary for bees, butterflies, beetles, and other beneficial bugs.

This nature-inspired mini program combines kid-friendly learning with creative, hands-on projects that encourage curiosity, conservation, and environmental stewardship. Perfect for scout troops, classrooms, nature clubs, or families looking for a meaningful fall activity!

It can also be revisited in early spring, when many beneficial insects are still sheltering in fallen leaves and dried plant stems. It's a great opportunity to teach kids why waiting a little longer to clean up the garden can help protect these tiny creatures.

And the best part? Helping these little creatures doesn't have to be complicated. Sometimes, all it takes is leaving a little nature undisturbed.
