At Kindred Sparks, we believe every spark begins a story.
I’m Laura, the mom and troop leader behind Kindred Sparks. I’ve seen firsthand that the moments kids carry with them aren’t always the ones we expect. They’re the inside jokes, the things they were brave enough to try, the friendships that grew, the lessons that clicked, and the adventures they’re still talking about months later.
Those are the kinds of moments I wanted Kindred Sparks to create more of.
Kindred Sparks started with a simple idea: patches should be more than souvenirs tucked away and forgotten. To me, each one should feel like a little time capsule, something that holds the memory of a special moment, whether it was an adventure, an activity, a lesson learned, or a proud accomplishment. When kids look back at their patches years from now, I hope they’re reminded not just of what they did, but of how it felt to be there.
But somewhere along the way, that idea grew into something bigger.
I realized a patch didn’t have to come after the adventure. It could spark the adventure in the first place.
Today, Kindred Sparks creates original patches, programs, activities, and resources designed to help leaders and families turn good ideas into experiences kids will actually remember.
Our programs explore everything from friendship and confidence to service, history, creativity, nature, and just-for-fun adventures. Some are built around important lessons kids are navigating in real life. Others are simply an excuse to make an ordinary meeting feel a little more epic.
Sometimes a program inspires a patch. Sometimes a patch sparks the idea for an entire adventure. Some of our patches inspire stand-alone experiences, while others complement official Scout badges by capturing the memory of how that badge was earned. Either way, the goal is the same: for the patch kids take home to mean something because there’s a story attached to it.
As a troop leader myself, I also know how much time, money, energy, and heart goes into creating these experiences. Kindred Sparks is meant to make that job a little easier, with thoughtfully designed programs, activities, and affordable patches that help bring an idea to life without a leader having to start from scratch.
At the heart of everything we create are three things:

Our mission isn’t to build a collection. It’s to help families and troops collect stories.
Because years from now, kids probably won’t remember every detail of every meeting. But they may pull out an old patch and suddenly remember the friends who were beside them, something they learned, an adventure they went on, something they were proud of, or simply how much fun they had.
That’s what I hope Kindred Sparks helps create.
